I fully agree with all your comments, we are of a similar vintage,(1st car FORD ANGLIA).
However I managed to fill up in Edinburgh drive back to Sheffield & commute+running round town for another 2 weeks . My last car was a Marea Weekender 105jtd and this also did well over the same journey, but not as good as the Croma.

Hi 06 Croma 1.9 8v, 05 Idea, 02 156, 06 Panda, 04 Stilo 3dr (kitted) .Add me to Croma list at least!!!!!

45mpg generally, much better than 29mpg in 1.6 Multi!

January 05 Croma Emotion 150 hp JTD, almost every option. 125000 kms done yet, was a new car.

some issues here on the forum are wellknown to me:

- rear tyre wear
- front right - back left brake pads/discs wear (other are still in excellent condition)

About the sunroof: I now have an issue with this, if you open it, it won't close anymore unless you help it closing (guide it along). I found on the internet that there are other owners also having problems with it. Any solution for it!

Overall: still pleased with it, never let me downs, pulls a caravan easy

I've noted on many occasions on a rolling stop, no break, in gear neutral that often as the car comes to a halt there is a slight grab/jerk as though the handbrake was gently applied.

I got the dealer to investigate this at my first service 12 months ago. The rear breaks were (according to them) stripped down and not fault found etc. etc.

To this day I can detect this very slight grab problem. Finger temperature checks of the rear discs/hubs do not indicate excessive brake drag but to me there should be no drag!

Never had a problem on ANY Fiat till the Vauhall setup the Croma has. Kind of telling really.

All the problems people are reporting

1) rear tyre wear
2) break wear
3) driveshaft wear

all appear to be common to the GM crap Epsilon platform. That puts your dealer in a tricky position because they can't really admit to you that the Croma faults you experience are due to crap GM design as that would undermine Fiat etc. etc.

My advise is keep a detailed note of problems, keep pushing them to you Fiat dealer and insist on Fiat feedback.

Let me be clear. The Croma is a great car, epsecially the bargain deals many got here in the UK. However some points/problems appear to be common and sadly not dramtic/serious enough for Fait to be forced to take them seriously. e.g. brake failures, engine failures, etc. etc.

I had the same problem with the sunroof, the dealer lubricated the guides and it's been fine since. Having said that, I haven't actually opened it for a few months now..!

HTH.

been there, done that ;), was better for some time, but now it is worse.
The dealer says that they have to remove the complete innerroof and glass plates to see what is going on .

I'll look forward to that then...

Please keep us posted as to how they get on / if they can do it without removing all of the interior

Hi all,

my first post here :). Count me in as well. Got an 2005 Croma 1.9 16v MJ Business Connect. Very fine car to drive (y)

I took mine straight to the Fiat dealer the week after I bought it with a sunroof that wouldn't shut. The new motor's now arrived from Italy and will be fitted next week. I suspect that if the motor is faulty then it's a symptom of it jamming, not the cause.

I looked at two others with sunroofs. One opened and wouldn't shut (I left the salesman with it fully open!), and the second worked perfectly. So on my sample 1/3 work properly.

There is something about "initialisation" in the manual. It makes me wonder if the problem is possibly settings/software aswell as mechanical issues.

I'll keep using it regularly until the warranty's up then probably never touch again. At long as it doesn't leak it's fine.

It does make a worrying cracking/creaking noise as I reverse up the dropped kerb into my drive when the body flexes slightly. To be expected I suppose, as glass doesn't bend like steel sheet does.

150 m-jet Prestigio

had alternator failure back in march, no warning showed up so left me stranded - fixed under warranty, but other than this no problems whatsoever, even rear tyre wear seems fine to me.

just 2 anoying rattles, one comming deep down from the dashboard, the other seems to be something loose on the exhaust, both audible at about 1.5k rpm.

I've had my Croma for 3years,and on the whole been more than happy with it.The downside though Fiat UK seems determand not to re-introduce the new model to the UK.

Good enough for Michael Schumacher!!!(y)
