Re: Croma owners......

Me too.

Just had it serviced.
just done 12.000 miles.
Just had a problem, front offside disc went.
So new pads and discs.
Be careful a new set of pads is 90,
Never mind the discs...Car started to judder when braking.
No pad warning light had come on.
So Pulled over and stopped, saw a score mark on the disc.
The rest as they say is history.

Re: Croma owners......

Thanks Bunny

At the moment I have two "warnings on start up" one is the intermittent "Parking Help Unavailable" when the parking sensors are not working and the other is "Change Engine Oil" which I have done but didnt realise at the time that I needed fiat to cancel the warning. I am due to take the car to a Fiat dealer next week in order to resolve the issue of the sensors and a problem with the offiside washer jet which isnt working. Hopefully if you dont discover the beep reason my dealer can help me.

Me too!
Well actually, I sold it years ago, but it was one of my better-value cars. I paid $500 Pacific Pesos for it (about $420 of your dollars I think). I repainted it myself, replaced some floppy shock absorbers, cleaned the interior up, and - that was about it.

I think most of the automatic Cromas on our side of the world were recalled to have the four-speed auto fitted (like mine had). The lockup torque converter (ZF 4HP box) was a great feature. Mine was the 2.0 i.e., but the Turbo is pretty common over here. One nice feature of the 2.0 i.e. was the Weber IAW (MAP sensor, no AFM, one of two cars to have this in 1987; the other being the F40 )

I moved on from the silver Croma to a silver Thema and finally to a black 164, which I had for two years, sold, bought a Stilo, then sold that and bought another 164. The 164 is, naturally, my pick of 'those' type-4 cars.

I don't think we'll ever have the new Croma in Australia or NZ - there's no point when that part of the market (wagon!) is so well catered-for. Back when the original Croma was new, the concept of an 'executive liftback' was a bit novel - only Mazda (626) had anything at a similar price/level if I remember correctly. But that was a Mazda... I mean, come on...

I think FIAT have got the market position of the new Croma wrong (or they have abused the Croma name). They should be trying to make a 'liftback BMW' instead - i.e. a bit luxurious with a businesslike feel, big and capable yet practical, a bit Audi-like, a bit Volvo-like - that would be in the spirit of the original Croma.

The new 'Croma' looks too much like the Vauxhall Signum on which it is based - needs to be a bit more wacky, like having pinstripe seats, a blue-vinyl-trimmed aircraft-style roof console, carpet in the centre console, and a broom in the gear selector. The height of executive style - can you say "stock market crash"? See the interior pic below...

Cheers,
-Alex

Re: Croma owners......

Paddywack41 - I asked the fiat people and there said it could be related to the warning lights that come on, there said properly best to get someone (fiat) to have a look at the problem.

Re: Croma owners......

Thanks Bunny - Croma is due in on the 29th to get some the issues sorted either under warranty or by getting the original dealer to pay, so I will check out the beep as well.

Re: Croma owners......

Took delivery of the new(ish) Croma today and had the neighbours wander over. These are a mix of Volvo V70, Audi A6 and Volkswagen Touareg drivers. As they had never seen one before they were keen to know what is was and after viewing it they all all appreciated its virtues. Think I have spotted a niche in the market......

Re: Croma owners......

Hi
I got my 15months Croma about 8months back. Been a fine ride overall.
Only thing that bothers me is the creeking i get from the front shocks when i go over a hump at slow speed. Just wandering what can be done about it.
Just done 25000km...i guess pretty low for a 24months old car.
Anyone here have this issue??

Greetings from Sg.
