As the problem here shows no warning lights - I'd say it was unrelated.

Re: New Croma - acceleration problem

Great.

Now my Bravo is in on the act! Exactly as described here, and the Mrs thinks it did it before when she was driving it. As it's under warranty perhaps a trip to the dealer could shed some light on the issue for you Croma folk without the luxury of Fiat picking up the bill after?

Re: New Croma - acceleration problem

I have done a bit of reading on the alfa forum, and it looks as if the EGR valve could be the cause, as it has a tendency to stick open by a couple of mm, basically it needs replacing. Although a few have cleaned it but it soon comes back. Mine is booked in for week on Wednesday at fiat dealer.

wont know until it goes into the dealership, but I have read that others have been charged between 90 and 110 if that is what the problem is. I had a similar problem on previous car Renault Laguna II once is was all cleaned up it was fine as long as I did not use supermarket diesel...

Re: New Croma - acceleration problem

Seems familiar, I recently posted on here after cleaning the EGR valve on my 2.4 after it had been running badly - "coincidentally" after using two tankfuls of supermarket diesel. I've done 5000 miles since with no problems, sounds like your old Laguna problem. I hope you get yours sorted out to your satisfaction. I'll be interested to see how much it costs as I believe the 1.9 EGR valve is the same as the 2.4 one.
HTH.

Re: New Croma - acceleration problem

I had the EGR problem with my 1.9 16v 150. Bought a new one off e-bay for about 60 inc postage. It is the same as the 1.9 16v Vectra.

Re: New Croma - acceleration problem

I have had only had the car a few weeks but have filled up each time with proper fuel, I have not noticed the the loss of acceleration for 6 days now.

Perhaps the proper fuel has cleaned out the EGR? I have done 168 mile round trip during this period. I will keep a log of when it happens again and report back.

Re: New Croma - acceleration problem

Mine has only done this 3 times in the past 2 months. I'm not sure about it been fuel related as i only go to Shell for my car, but i could be wrong.

Re: New Croma - acceleration problem

Got my car back from Sandicliffe dealer today, the fiat franchise they have has all the servicing and repairs done by the ford franchise up the road.. If only I had known...

Any way despite me being very specific about what the issue was and when it happens, all I got back was we hooked it up to the diagnostic machine and there were no codes..

I wont be using them in the future... It quite funny in one way I got in the car to drive away and guess what no acceleration... it brought a smile to my face...

Now do I go to the other dealership that is not part of a franchise (JCS at Kegworth)or the claimed local specialist (MGC Servicing)?

any thoughts...

Re: New Croma - acceleration problem

JCS were very helpful when we bought our Croma. Be nice to think that helpful attitude continues over into servicing.

Re: New Croma - acceleration problem

Hmmm problem is back. This time it happened every time i pulled away from traffics lights or at a round about today. This time it was like been in the wrong gear where it slowly speeds up and then bang...i'm flying down the road like nothing was wrong, till i have to slow down again for something and try to speed up again

Think it's time for the car to have done what the husbands Bravo has had done to it.
