ok the coupe blew its clutch just before xmas so waiting till we get the money together to have it fixed and fitted but just wondering what would be a good price for fitting and whats involved so i wont get the shaft :) cheers for any help :)

If it's anything like the 5 pot diesel clutch then it will be a big job. Drop the sub frame, remove the drive-shafts, drop the exhaust, then you can get around to splitting the gearbox off.

I don't know if the 20vt is a sprung-clutch or a dual-mass flywheel affair. If the latter then you may need to replace the flywheel depending on the condition of the rubber dampener.

chhers for all the help guys just with the clutch aready gone makes it kid of hard getting to the likes of italia and powerfiat :D

Please please please, whatever you do, do not go to MR Clutch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Andy.

haha ok ill keep that in mind but ive just found out there is an alfa specialist a couple of minutes away could be of some use to us peeps up in scotland for the coupe considering the alfa version of the coupe :) so hopefully they will be as good as im hoping :D

Ok ive been down to the fiat specialist in dundee and to my suprise they know what they are doing the bloke was sitting working on an alfa gtv which gave me a huge sigh of relief that they could do the coupe :D

so asked him how much for my bravas timing belt kit to be done and got this price from him

timing belt kit - £74
Labour - £125
totalo cost plus VAT is - £227.95
which is about £40 dearer than my main fiat dealer

then the coupes turn came

Clutch Kit - £126.18
labour - £320
Total Cost plus VAT - £526.26

so not that far of the quote you guys gave me with the exception i dont have to travel hundreds of miles only 2 miles :D

yeah well that was one of the other things i had to ask him aobut but completly forgot about it but will be speaking to him again at the weekend but its good to know that not all the fiat specialists are in england :)

Ok, make sure you get a quote for cambelt, tensioner and pulley, and waterpump and aux belts. When you undo the cambelt, it can cause a leak on the waterpump, so its always recommended to replace. If it leaks later, it means another stripdown!!
My prices i quoted inc vat.

Andy.:)

cheers for the list but have already found one that is near me as there is nowhere remotly near me on that list which makes it hard to get the coupe with no clutch to, so i have found a fiat specialist in my local area which is a lot easier to get the car to and he only does full timing belt kits wont do just a belt i just forgot to get a quote on the belts/pulleys added at the same time hopefully will be going down later today to book it in sometime

Can anyone tell me why i shouldnt take my car to Mr Clutch ? They claim to have a 2 year/20,000 miles "no-quibble" guarantee on all work done. Plus they are cheaper and much nearer to me than any of the fiat specialists. Can anyone give me details of any bad experiences they may have had with mr clutch?

cheers
