Hi,

I've got a bit of a prob with my 1995 Coupe 16v turbo.

It starts fine and idles o.k but when i press the throttle the revs drop.
If i press it gently i can get them to raise but if i push it more they drop again. So i cant pull away without stalling.

If i mess about with it enough untill the engine is hot the Idle gets bumpier and it ocassionally stalls until eventually it is o.k.

Then it works o.k until the morning.

I've tried disconecting what I think was the airflow sensor(opposite the throttle) and the lambda sensor. Neither of them make a difference.

Any help would be great.

Sounds like you need to clean your map sensor pipe, carb cleaner and a good blow will do:D
And then strip and clean your idle control valve, after all that it'll be like new(y)

Hey all, thats weird, I just came on here to ask about a problem with my 16VT and you seem to have the same symptoms! my car has a slightly unstable tick over, and if i put my foot down a little it will move! but anymore than a little it loses revs and sometimes stalls, does this sound like the same problem? let me know how u get on. and red IS the best colour although many dissagree with me! cheers.

:slayer: and yes red is best (y)

Sounds like the fueling is way out due to a MAP problem caused by oil contamination. Like previous answer, clean it all out including pipes. You may need a new MAP sensor.
Engine maybe blowing oil up past rings or valve guides due to wear and this will contaminate the MAP sensor.
Can also be the coolent temp sensor playing up. Or it can be a bad connection at the ECU, at main connectors or at sensors. And a blocked catalyst can do the same. As Dave said, a leak can weaken the mixture and send the sensors heywire. If the MAP is cleaned and nothing changes, get the car diagnostic checked.

Andy.

ive just had this exact problem fixed starts idles, gentle throttle gets revs but pressing the throttle causes stall, i cant believe sum1 else has had it lol

i'll find the invoice from the mechanic....

'broken wire to isc valve, replaced terminals, cleaned isc valve and throttle body reassembled' he also cleaned the injectors

hope this helps, might make it easier for ur guy to localise the problem, i had to pay for diagnostics and crap

i'd put serious money on this being the problem, when i tried to diagnose myself i came up with all the above theories but was wrong
