Especially after what happed to Sammiboo..
I have a new hub and wheel bearing assembly to go on the rear drivers side of my coupe, and would appreciate some hints and tips on fitting, as well as anyhting I should not do when I put it on.
Thanks,
Simon.

I didn't take the risk, and paid a professional to fit it for me (although Sammi did the same  ) I trust that sort of work to a reputable garage.
Have you just signed up to fccuk to ask the question?!

I have signed up to Fccuk, and when I asked the question it seems that it is an easy job, and not much can go wrong.... Apparently it just unbolts and the other slides on. In theory at least. I am pretty sure I can take more time to fit it that a professional also, as I have not got to fit several cars in to be fixed, like I would if I was a garage.

I have fitted the new hub, it took about 2 hours. It does not look like a very substantial item though I was suprised at how it manages to hold eveything... Fitting was pretty straightforward though.

Furry muff :)

My level of competence with a spanner leaves a lot to be desired. I was chuffed at fitting a bumper myself this weekend!!
wow, and i thought i was mechanically incompetent the other week by jacking my car up and fitting a de cat pipe which took me 2 hours and a lot of sweat!! i thought that was a easy job, but i think that fitting a bumper takes the biscuit!!! :D

From what I know you need the bearing assembly pressing into the hub. You are best getting that done at a reputable garage.

To fit the hub to the suspension arm you will need a blooming big socket and torque wrench. If you don't have a torque wrench I believe there is a setting on standard 3/4 drive ratchets called F'ing tight.

Only changed the drive shafts on the front of a Tipo 16v and removed the rear hub on a disc-spec Tempra.

can i just point out, the bearing that was replaced by someone on this forum was fine, the one i had replaced by an italian car specialist was the one that failed, it failed a few weeks after it was fitted. Just something to keep in mind.

you get the new hub and bearing as 1 bit,

just use a new nut, dont forget to replace the washer, easy job realy, make sure that you have a torque wrench that goes up to the setting needed to re fit

The rear hub comes as an entire assembly on the Coupe. The bearing isn't available seperately.

Sorry cant name them. I am still going through proceedings

Sammi, would you PM me "hinting" who it might be please, I promise I will not reveal who it is to anyone. I'm having some pretty serious work done to my coop in a couple of months and I want to take her to a decent specialist.
