Just got the coupe back, it only failed on one thing, but it's not going to be cheap  Peed me off as I forked out for all these parts not 6 months ago, however the MOT tester says the parts are shot and need replacing.
It's all to do with the passenger side suspension.

I don't understand What I need to ask for when I phone AA, any help appreciated...

He says I need... (and FIAT prices in brackets)

LWR ARM ASSY (£61.47)

BRG CARRIER (£192.00

BOLT + NUT (1.43)

BEARING (£41.90)

FLANGE (£51.48)

If i phone AA and quote these will the right stuff arrive?

Lower Arm is I assume the bottom wishbone, does that make any more sense.

The bearing carrier is the bit which goes from the wishbone upwards that the strut fits onto.

Bearing is the front wheel bearing

Flange not sure??

Has anybody got a link to the Polish? website where all the microfiche's are it might be easier to understand if you can see it.

Just read your reply in the post about hub nuts. Can beleive that they have gone in 5 months, something is wrong, either you were shafted by whoever did them then or you MOT guy is playing silly barstools.

Nah the MOT guy is actually a friend of mine. He says the whole lot is shot on the passenger side. He says it's a combination of worn parts prematurely wearing out the new stuff, and the parts were fitted incorrectly as well  Not going to chase the garage that fitted them, I really can't be bothered. I just want to fix it all and be done with it. I am driving around with no MOT and the cops are everywhere, my sister got pulled last night for no reason.
I just don't want to pay over the odds, or order the wrong stuff. All I have to go off is the sheet with the parts which I have listed above. Fricking cars hey

I know he is a friend but would it not be worth getting a second opinion...

...go somewhere else.

So called friends can sometimes spot an easy meal ticket ?????

My best guesses are:

BRG carrier = bearing carrier, i.e. hub

LWR ARM ASSY = lower arm assembly - on most cars will be the bottom (aka track control) arm with inner bushes and outer balljoint

Bearing and bolt & nut are pretty self explanatory ;)

Not entirely sure about the flange bit.

Sounds like something else is at fault to fail all the other parts, esp since only one side.

How many miles had the 'new' parts done?

Reminds me of a story my neighbour once told me. He used to have a car that used leaf springs. Noticed one was faulty and ordered up the part. Went and fitted it and then the new one failed. Garage never bothered to tell him they had to be replaced in pairs...

Is that not the side you smacked into a traffic island?
Or was that someone else?

Could there be some damage occured then that is causing problems?

Hi all...

The story goes:

12 months ago smacked into a kerb HARD  alloy wrote off.

Replaced alloy, all is well, until a knocking sound is heard some 7 months after the event  I ignore it for a while, Until driving home one day the wheel comes off the hub  the wishbone had given way. The hub was also stripped (the threads) so the complete hub is replaced, and new wishbones fitted five months ago.
Car is fine, but the car is a bit twitchy on that side on heavy braking? but otherwise fine. Does knock a bit when going over bumps but I did have lower springs fitted at same time as other work, so attributed to them.
Today, some 5 months after new hub and wishbones, told I have an MOT fail becaust the ball joint has worn out something or other (can't remember what he said) and hub is now fccucked and I need a new one, along with wishbones  I double checked but he's adamant the ones I have on that side are fccucked. So whatever it is I need to cure because if I find I need another hub and wishbone on that side in 5 months time I'm liable to burn the fccking coupe :p
I have thought, say the shock on that side was a goner would that not speed up wear? so I'm going to replace both front shocks as well.

The impact of your kerb destroying probably elongated the bottom hole in the hub carrier (upright) they are very soft anyway.
The bolt you need will be the new pinch bolt that holds the wishbone ball joint into the carrier.
Try a breakers for a replacement carrier but dont get one from a front end smack car.

sorry mate but it is not worth scrimping on these sort of things bite the bullet and replace what your mate says (with new stuff) a friend of mine has a maz and he had to change his wishbobes twice in a year because he dednt change the hubs and the old wore out the new, also think about it this way if you do it on the cheep the next time your wheel falls off you might not be so lucky!

Purchased all parts needed, now £285 lighter  factor in the £120 already spent this month and about £100 labour, and you have just over the £500 mark. Thought I was doing well as I had kept costs down to £200/month for the past 3 months.
I suppose the coupe had to let me know who controls my wages :p
