Hey Guys,

Am new here, nice meeting you all. I have a LHD Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo here in Antigua, located in the Caribbean. I have the only one on island actually lol. While driving home last night I fell into a hidden pothole in the road and the engine shut off....tried restarting the car a few times, nothing up to now. I've been reading on other forums this may be attributed to the Fuel Cut Off Switch being activated. Where is this switch located on the car an how can I deactivate it so the car starts again? While trying to start, the engine turns over, but for nothing its kicking. I let the car cool for a moment, then tried starting it again. It started but was idling very rough as if it wasn't getting fuel. I hit the accelerator to give it gas while starting and it stalled again. Any help on this would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Hi, and welcome, :)

ok , basics;
when you turn the ignition ON,
do you hear the fuel pump run..??

if it's running - then it's unlikely to be the cut-off switch , AFAIK that's supposed to KILL the FUEL PUMP until reset.

maybe the jolt had damaged or dislodged the Crank Angle sensor.. or it's wiring.

:idea: last night .. did it stop-dead.. or just lose power and die in a short distance..fuel would FA D E , electrical would just STOP;)

Hey varesecrazy,

The car lost power and died in a short distance. How easy is it to get to the crank angle sensor? As mentioned before, the car started once after I let it cool for a bit then idled rough, but once I hit the accelerator that was it :(. It stalled and haven't started again since....

Sorry, no I don't hear the fuel pump when I try to start the car.

Not too familiar with the coupe,:eek:
but the pump is traditionally in the fuel tank - lift up rear seat and htere is an access panel.

the FIRE fuel cut-off is normally a push-button reset around front footwell,
so front wall,
inner door sill, or under the passengers seat

look here for more details -

or use the forums excellent SEARCH - in "advanced"

Sorry for the late reply! the issue was the fuel cut off switch/inertia switch which I found under the footwell of the coupe! Thanks for assisting!
