Hi everyone, contemplating doing a conversion on a bravo.
Just asking the coupe section on these 2 engines, can people advise me on the difference in reliability, power, tuning etc
Anyone know how hard/easy to put in a non hgt bravo?
Thanks

planning to do turbo swap really, as i wanna be able to notice the increased power to make it all worth it, thanks tho

If there's room, the 5 cylinder is the one to go for. It's a newer design, more powerful. Which isn't to say the 4 cylinder engine isn't a wonderful engine, but it is a much older design and probably best mothballed as a replacement engine for Integrales (it's the last evolution of the venerable FIAT twin cam).

There's a post by one of our Polish freinds where he simply removes the whole drivetrain from a 20v coupe turbo and transplants it into a Multipla. That would be the way to go.

The non-turbo version of the coupe 5 cylinder engine is already in the 1995-2001 Bravo from factory in 147 and 155bhp versions Both conversions have been done many times on the Bravo before. Ill post what information I have picked up myself in the post you put in the Bravo section after tea though ive not done the conversion myself. here; https://www.fiatforum.com/bravo-brava/312363-bravo-coupe-turbo-swap.html

The biggest point ive seen people raise is to use the 147bhp Bravo Mk1 as a base because the main harness plug is the same connector type and the 147 uses a throttle cable same as the coupe turbo. rather than the fly by wire accelerator the 155bhp Bravo mk2 uses.

I would go for te 16v turbo engine, because is better and easier to tune... The 20vTurbo have problem with 5th cylinder, it offen damage exhaust manifold on 5th cylinder... I have 16v turbo coupe with 380hp and my coupe is faster than friend 20v turbo with 400hp...
