Does anybody know if there is a switched live on the radio circuit from the ignition? I am sick to death of having to remember to switch off the radio after the ignition in my Coop.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Dave

You should have a switched live and a permanent live going to the radio.
I would get the radio out and check the harness wiring with a meter to make sure it is connected right.

It should be set up already. Mine was and I changed radio recently and it works as spec.
Check your wiring.

The radio is out, there seems to be constant power from the car to it and it definitely doesn't switch off when the ignition is switched. The car still has Its original harness as far as I can make out but the CD changer that was in the boot had a permanent live feed to it and they took that from one of the feeds on the harness. Other than that there doesn't seem to be any more butchery of the wiring.

hi, an easy fix:
sharp pointed 12v tester from halfords with croc clip for earth (about £2),
put crocodile clip on any earth or metal of car, push small tip of point on tester into sleeving on wires going to radio, until you find one thats only live once ignition is switched on, scotchblock into this, cut & tape over perm live and run your new wire to the short lengh left of what was perm live. if no switched live behind radio, run a new one fom something else that only comes on with ignition, cig lighter etc :)
