I need to no what suporting mods I need to have a gt28rsr turbo on a standard 20vt engine?

If anyone could advise that would be great.

Thanks(y)

Front mount intercooloer
Good exhaust (I use a turbo back blue flame with race cat)
Good plugs (iridiums ?)
uprated air filter (K&N cone ?)
Electronic boost controller
You will also need the ECU to be remapped for correct fueling and getting the most out of the new turbo.
I would also upgrade the brakes and maybe give the suspension an overhaul too as well as fitting good tryes (T1R's ?)

totally agree with the above although a cone filter is not needed,
although i run a straight induction pipe and cone.

Also you will need the fuel pump wiring direct to battery.
or an uprated pump.

Out of curiosity what does the wiring mod do? boost fuel pressure?
Forgot about that one.
It basically puts about 13.5volts onto the fuel pump instead of say 12volts before the mod after volt drop which equates to about a 10% increase in pump speed.
I also have uprated 3.8 FPR fitted as well which I forgot about and you may need one too.
It gets very expensive going down the modding route buddy :)

Yeah standard coupé ownership is expensive enough....Although mines been partially modified when I bought it. Need to get it on rolling road to confirm how much lol.

Think I'm going to get a car cover and put mine to bed for the winter until I can spend some proper time/money on it :chin:

That is what I am doing mate.
My car is running great just don't want to ruin it in the winter....spent too much on it for the rain, salted roads and snow to take their toll on it.
It will be coming back out next summer.
I just bought a cheapo £900 puma millenium for the winter :)
ps.....Sniper is also going to need an uprated clutch as well because the standard valeo unit will not last long with an RSR running on full chat..........starting to get VERY expensive now

As i thought, them mods are on my list anywway.

I have a g-tech 1 chip at the moment, would i have to put the old one back on instead for the remap?[cuz i havnt got it-bought the car completly standard apart from the chip and that how it come]

As for them car covers iv had three.

One keept blowing off, the 2nd was putting scratches on my car as i take it off and put it on. The third one i got was soft and had straps on the bottem so it didnt blow off in the night.after less than 3 months the weather made it disintergrate, it turned like to tissue paper and then into dust. I was shocked after just three months.

To be honist i would only have a car cover if i wasnt using my car for a peroid of time, taking the cover on and off will scrath in places.

Can anyone please advise on my above post:slayer:

A gtech is for your standard turbo and standard car.
Put an RSR on and you have to start all over again
Bud,change the turbo and you have to change everything.....mapping,fueling etc. (talk to flea)
It will NOT be plug and play.

Ok but if i was to get a remap and just stage 1 mods before I change the turbo would I get my car remaped with the g-tech chip or would i need the original chip that came standard on the ecu?

Or doesnt it matter?

Sorry for the confusion I wasnt clear enough.

Aye its a problem right enough if you want to park up over winter. Obviously a garage is the answer, failing that I would advise investing in a quality car cover. They're not cheap but well worth it if you value your Coop. A wee tip if your putting the car undercover for a while is to get it cleaned, & wax & seal the hell out of the paintwork:D

Google is your friend for a good cover...(y)

When you get your car mapped, they map a blank chip and give you your existing chip back to you.
The chip is just and eprom.

Nice turbs, the RSR. Best of both worlds! These roller bearing turbo's were all the rage a couple of years back on Fccuk, when the Pound was strong against the dollar and you could get one with all the bits for £600. It's more Hybrids now, being straight bolt-ons, and not least the fact we can see 340+ BHP out of the hybrids now with good mapping (y) Roller bearing is undoubtedly the superior turbo, but for me at least, it's hybrid all the way!

Whys that then pinin?

How much more unrieable would you say a 350 bhp with these mods would be compared to a standard 20vt?

It's a total gamble. Modding always is. It's not going to be as reliable as a standard 20VT simply because everythings under more stress. However there's no reason why it should be reliable if everything's done right and the mapping is good.

Dont wory about that, it will be done right with no cut corners.

Cant wait to get started on it, just waiting to start my new job and it aint half dragging1
