After selling my 16vt coupe with stage 1 mods I starting a new project with my 20vt.

I bought it about a week ago from near burnley, the pics i'm posting are the pics taken by the previous owner for the piston heads advert. I will put some better ones up after I have polished it and that.

Apart from a chip it is completely standard, that is how i like to buy a car. I like to start off standard and mod as I see fit and safe.

First few things on my list are new fluids, spark plugs and get it in the rollers.

Then the modding starts.

Induction kit with straight induction pipe
5 branch manifold
full stainless steel exhaust
evo front mount intercooler
electronic boost control
uprated clutch
lightened flywheel
webro 255 fuel pump and wiring mod
fuel pressure regulator if need
block work/forged and full rebuild
uprated cams
better injectors
atmos dump valve
2.4 conversion
boost control
boost gauge
aftermarket speedo that reads up 180 mph
sticky put legal tyres
uprated pads and discs
anti lag/launch control

Most of this will go on together not bit by bit, work to be carried out by owen developments and torque italia.

I also have a garatt t3 with 360 roller bearing i'm sending off for re-condition. Even thinking of a better turbo still?

The car has 110k with history to 100k
Had cambelt and clutch at 98k with receipt.

Bad points, its missing the reflector on rear bumper to the left of number plate. driver side wing mirror needs glass put back in properly. apart from that she all good.

The only things that will go on in the next few months are...

boost gauge
eshast
induction kit
dump valve
fmic
boost control

All the rest will be going on togeather when she goes off for rebuild forge work.

That's all for now, any ideas on the best turbo for a car with 300-400bhp?

How much will I get that turbo for, and what supporting mods?

Will boost high into the red?
 
im hoping to be running a healthy 300whp after fitting the Gt2860rs along with my 440cc injectors and 4 bar fuel reg. fmic and mapping

Second hand about 4 to 500
3.8 FPR
FMIC
Breathing mods/exhaust
Mapping
Colder plugs
Tyres,brakes and suspension of course......no good going fast if you can't stop or control the car:)

What do you mean by "boosting into the red" ?
It will boost to maybe 1.35Bar approx.and hold power to red line....all dependant on the mapper of course.

You must have deep pockets :eek: That's thousands of pounds worth of work :) Welcome to 20VT ownership. I never did really get on with my 16VT, was too laggy and not as quick out of the box.
 
Thanks, it good to be in the 20vt club.

First car was a bravo hgt abrath 20v 155bhp. I loved the sound of that but sold it for my first coupe, yellow 16vt. I always new the sound of my bravo with a big turbo would be music to my ears.

As for having deep pockets I wish[lol].

Its not that I have deep pockets its the fact that apart from induction eshast dumpvalve boost gauge, I will by the bits as I go. stack them up in my bedroom[lol] then save for the labour over a perod of 12 months maybe more.

If only i could afford to do all at once

Maybe one day I will win the lottery?

I first got mine mapped at 260bhp with just an induction kit and that is about as high as you can go like that......maybe a tad more with a standard GT28.
I then changed the brakes to grilled and grooved fitted with yellow stuff pads,then an FMIC,blue flame turbo back decat system,gizzmo EBC plus a 3.8FPR,stage 1 60trim GT28 turbo.This was mapped at 290bhp.
Next step in a month or 2 is getting the turbo changed to a 62 trim stage 3 and getting it mapped to at least 350bhp I hope.......we will see.
One thing,no matter how much power you get,it is not enough and you will soon get used to it and want more.
It is a slippery slope to start off on.

I no mate, you can never have to much power.

I went for a ride in my friends new starlet gt turbo[1.3 but they are quick from 1st to 3rd] he was giving it the beans and i was impressed with it.

He then said im sure it was faster than this yesterday, I said to him that he was just getting use to the speed of his new car and infact it was probaly just as fast as yesterday.

IMO the coupe 20vt is quick enough standard but I have to mod because its the only real hobby I have. I love doing it too, I dont know anything else[lol].
 
I know..........I have spent just over 4 grand in 6 months on this peice of ****e and have just ordered Carelli seats which should be here tomorrow for almost £500........red and black leather :D
What else can you spend your money on......lol ?
 
lol im same lol im dumping some right cash into the project at the minute lol already got some right goodies for it, next week ill have everything for the exhaust apart from a turbo back sysytem but im having that made by a mate at his garage when cars painted. a nice 3" system all way through without a cat.

I did want a stainless manifold but there is none on ebay at the minute so im getting an adapeter for the wasgate.
 
A guy on fccuk produced and manufactured a stainless manifold, and stuck the rest on ebay. They've all been sold but you'd probably get one on the coop forum if you posted in parts wanted. They aren't any more performance than standard though, it's exactly the same spec, just made out of SS.
 
I replaced the missing reflecter on the rear bumper.

Replaced the driver sun viser.

Also cleaned her and polished her and took some pics of my own.
