16v non turbo.
Fuel injector warning light comes on intermitently, some days not at all, other days maybe a a couple of times. Turning ignition off/on seems to clear the problem?
Engine seems to run O.K, no mis-fire etc.
The water temp. sensor was thought to be the trouble and has been replaced.
Any ideas?

Get it connected to a code reader, which will tell you which fault it is trying to report. Otherwise you're just guessing...

if its anything like the 20vt it will be the thermostat stuck open...my inj light flashed when i first bought my car a few years ago, intermitenttly, but when i changed thermostat it sorted itself out...might be worth a look..if your car runs cold(ish) all the time it can be very detrimental to the engines longevity and your fuel consumption..

my 20vt does that and runs coldish is it really that bad tho as i ust 2 have an astra turbo and u paid more to get a cooler one!

hello, the injector light warning could mean different problems, water temp sensor, oxigen sensor, bad injector, air in the system, knock sensor mal function wich breakes over time due to the high tempeture of the engine or due to an excesive torque aplication when its being installed, this only uses 2.04 kgm...
hope you find the problem soon... good luck
Turo

My injector light has come on & off a few times lately, car runs cold most of the time (been told a 16v should be 90 celsius quickly after ignition), I have noticed a 25% decrease in fuel effiency too and get a kind of delay/hesitation in accelerating when I press throttle.

This snowballed with my monoxide emmisions as I was told if the car ran cold the oxygen sensor/thermostat wouldn't kick in - then maybe combusting inefficiently.

Ahhh... my first winter in the Coupe begins... :chin:

If the reader states water temp sensor, my bet is, the Thermostat is sticking. Quite a common problem on Coupes. If its sticking, it will be sending the wrong message to the ECU. If its stuck, the ECU runs off an average [logged] reading, which can upset the dash light. Replace the Thermostat/Housing. A sign of thermostat failure, is a temp guage that never gets to '90', but runs around 50-70 degrees.

Just been reading these very interesting posts and have the same problem as FUBAR.Engine running cold and when pushed hard runs lumpy thru the revs like its surging. Will be checking the termostat at the weekend if i have time and will report findings. Thanks for the info albeit not really for me.

D'ya know, 4 years on and it's still the same and I've even had the engine rebuilt after a catastrophic cambelt failure. It's gotta be a sensor, hopefully when I have the cash I will send it to a specialist for some TLC. I love my little 16V N/A. ;)

changed the thermostat today(easier than it looks)tried the car and temp went almost up to normal after sort test drive.put foot down in 2nd and had small amount of hesitation but definately better, looking forward to a winter with a heater that blows warm lol.I do have a obd 2 cable and fiat/alfa diagnostics disc, will try it next weekend to see if it tells me anything.PS thanx for reply.
