hi all, i need some help, i've got a problem with a 2.0 16v non turbo, its got a intermittant knockin noise coming from the top end it is quite mechanical interference noise. It has had a new inlet cam fitted as the 2nd lobe on number 1 cylinder had worn away, so i fitted a new cam and shim to that valve, my problem is the noise is still there!!! it has good oil pressure 3 bar till warm then 2.5. can anybody please point me in the right direction.
thanks in advance

Could be camshaft end float, the cam runs in the head and this can become worn with age allowing the cam to float about this sounds like a taping coming from head.

No simple fix, new head easier, or someone who is very trick with a welder can rebuild the head back up with aluminium., then drill it back to correct size.
