Fiat 127

The poor old Fiat 127 is always overlooked! Car of the Year winner, the first supermini, sold 4.5 million including Seat production, ford bought 9 when trying to work out how to create the mk1 Fiesta (look at the shape!), and out handles a Mini (as 3 journalists have told me)! What else, the 1050 will still be accelerating when the needle falls off the end of the clock (100mph), even with 5 up and a boot full of cricket kit. It still drives like a modern car, and a mk2 1050 doesn't feel anywhere near 40 years old - sounds great and will embarrass a lot of modern traffic.

... but is it cool?

Thanks @ben

Should be sub-zero, but then what do I know - running around in Panda's & 127's, while the Abarth sits unused......

Re: Fiat 127

I put cool, although a series 1 in a nice 70`s shade could be bordering on sub-zero...

The concept one that materialized a few years back would be sub-zero if launched IMHO..

I'd say cool if I wasn't shaken to death in Yugo versions over the years... Sorry, biased...

Clearly nothing like the 127 then - you can't base a judgement on a mullered & radically reworked eastern bloc version, knocked out cheap to bargain basement customers. They are more fun than an Abarth GP EsseEsse - seriously!

Re: Fiat 127

Hi all
My first fiat was a 127 900cc in light blue loved it, then went to a orange 127 sport 1050cc quick little car that was, sub zero for me.

know what you mean Mel.. but as @Palio says the UK's 127 Variants were great cars or their era,
if it was to be swayed by the "concept -NEW 127" it'd wipe the floor

Then there is the van version, the Fiorino. Same great car with added practicality..... Not that I am in ANY way biased...

Re: Fiat 127

Very slick car!

Anyone seen the "David Obendorfer Car Concepts 127 Abarth", think this is a lovely version and would be great for Fiat to bring back like the 500 and Spider. Just the right amount of modernisation yet keeping all the iconic old styling.

Re: Fiat 127

The 127 is sub zero cool. Would love to see a new 127 go on sale. It seems to be something that Fiat are very good at right now.

Fiat currently appear to good at rebadging small turkish built vans as a 500...something...

Those concept pics are around 5 years old..I cannot see it now..more is the pity.

Smile Re: Fiat 127

I was very interested to learn within the past year or two that the base model 127s were in fact 2 door saloons with a boot instead of a hatch!

Re: Fiat 127

Fiat 127 is one of my favorite models... But there's one issue with it being cool.

One word, four letters that makes this car much less cool:
YUGO
