Punto GT
The really quite surprisingly rapid, turbo hatch & successor of the Uno Turbo.

HOT OR NOT???

i hear that, but there is a reason why 'boy racers' like them, same as the nova back in the day.. Its because its awesome, and i would say now the nova is older and you don't see them often they are positively chilly. Punto falls into same category for me - rarely see a mk1 at all these days let alone a GT - & most of the properly chavved boy racer GT's have died from abuse - generally speaking GTs now are decent cars, yes they often are tuned and lowered and have wheels but gone are the days of silly bodykitted, lexus lighted GTs

Comparing the Punto GT to the other "hot" hatches of the time is a waste of time.

The Saxo VTR VTS for example. So poorly put together it made the 106GTi look good. Pedals too close together, handled like a badger on a frozen duck pond and the interior smelled like old tuperware on a hot day.

The Punto was better designed, better engineered, quicker, faster, better looking and because it was five insurance groups higher and Fiat never needed to do a 0% finance offer the boy racers mostly avoided them.

A few managed to sell enough drugs to get one and modify it but it was a Redline ten of the best car rather than a Max Power ethos.

Three of the best cars I have ever owned and one of mine was simply terrible. :D

These are very cool and so hard to get a decent one of these days.
Were very popular with particularly the boyracers as many said which makes them uncool somewhat,.. but that was because of the price vs. the amount you could do to them in mods/turbos etc. which is what made them so popular.

The few that are left and occasionally pop up for sale are mostly trashed by boyracers having forced every mechanical part to the limit with turbo's remaps and mods to get as much HP out as possible.
The occasional granny car/garage find appears but is often such a rust bucket it is big risk to take on.

Hats off to anyone who still owns one in decent condition and who can maintain it, something I hope to aspire to with my car(s)!
