hey everyone, just took my laptop out to see if i could connect to a WiFi connection, tried McDonalds but didnt pick anything up, then went up the front street and found a connection called "StreetNet".

it connected to the network fine as it was unsecured, but still couldnt get on the internet, never used these before so not sure how they work..

anyone know how to use them to get on the internet or where i could find some in places like shopping centres/airports/hotels etc, thanks!

Alex.

Re: Wireless Acces points

Just drive around.. you'll find an unsecure network eventually. When we were at Portsmouth buying the green Marea, we drove onto the sea front and had a list of at least 10 unsecure networks. Managed to do a quick bit of web browsing ;)

Also found a few in Elgin while on our honeymoon. Found some things to do and did a FF update ;)

Re: Wireless Acces points

the ones your picking up arent always internet connections and could be wireless networks instead i think.,.
i dunno bout Windows OS but i know there is an easy way to get around "secured" networks with Linux OS.,.,
