arggh!! tried everything on my step sons pc to get rid of this, up to date mcafee, adaware, spybot s&d

its taken over the 'home page', and shows pop up saying there is a virus -[ W32.myzor.fk@yf ], click the box to fix it blah blah, which probably drops more dirt onto the system, i believe the virus is the "Zlob" one.

cant find any removal tools on the net, and some of the removal instructions are hard to follow, and some of the reg keys referred to arent there after I have looked

any ideas? or am I looking to reformat?

argghh!! even more!!

PC had a free AVG on it when it got infected, I made sure it was up to date before rescanning, no use.

I uninstalled avg, put my mcaffee on it, brought it to date, still no joy.

I thought it may have been IE7 that he installed, I removed that and was no different.

I also tried a 'Stinger'; I have used it before for other things and found it to be good little download, no joy there either.

Start your computer in WINDOWS 98 mode :p no you probably don't have that set up.

Start your computer in DOS mode or Recovery Console depending on your version of Windows.

Find the file using the 'CD' (Change Directory) CD C:\windows\system32

Then delete the viruse using the DEL (delete) command.

DEL virusname.exe

And you're done.

If you really want to go deep, Open the open using a TEXT editor and delete the contents. Save the file and then change the attibutes to 'Read Only'

This way if the virus tries to come back, chances are it will not be able to overwrite the one "you" made and you should never be infected by that virus again.
