Title was spelt wrong, should be Elenox. I am on the verge of buying it for £299, but this would be my largest ebay purchase - excluding my laptop but the bloke delivered that. Everything I see about the guy seems genuine though.

No, did it ask for your ebay username and password? If so it's because it's a finished auction. In ebay's eternal wisdom they still want you to input your username and password, thus creating more changes of people sticking it in without thinking! Just realised that his pictures are hosted on a domain I can look into.

just add a TV tuner card and you have a excellent media centre.

Or even Elonex?! ;)

You can buy the elonex case on ebuyer and do a self-build, should be cheaper and better than the ebay one :)

Yeah or even that ;)

Do you think I could get it cheaper? I would need to factor in XP MCE and a remote too?

THat's his list of pictures, I think that makes him seem more genuine. He obviously runs/supports/owns that site and uses it for storage.

@ paul i would assume his copy is pirate as he is not supplying discs so treat it as having no OS in your costing but as you know oyu can always get an OS by various methods :)

Yeah I realise that, but it will actually be on and it has got the MCE remote which is important. OK if I ever needed to do a reinstall I would need a new XP MCE CD but I have one available, would my XP home licence work for MCE is the question, I guess it wouldn't.

I haven't bought a PC without an OS included officially for years!

I have already written by advert to sell my little laptop to replace it with this, I have asked him for his address and phone number to see if it scares him off or not.

Acer do a very good media centre PC.

They're called the Idea 500 and 510. Uses a lower CPU speed but a higher spec to keep the heat (and ultimately the sound of fans) down to a minimum.

As for remotes.. Might have one laid around :p

Earlier I was looking for reviews on this and it said it was entirely silent? Not sure if it's true, afterall my DVD recorder has a fan. This one matches my amp etc. set up perfectly. Will look at the idea 500 and 510.

Reckon if I ever had to do a reinstall I would be moving it onto Vista anyway. It is purely to be used for the following reasons:

Storage of my music/video (if desired) and output via DVI to my TV and amp system - using the S/PDIF out into my DAC.
Wireless continuous backup of my laptop's data using second copy as I do now.
Back up machine if my laptop ever breaks, I will use it as a temporary main machine for uni work whilst at uni.

I think that's it. Currently my little laptop does the later two, the problem is that the HDD is too small (40gb but over partition) and it's not up to my audio system. I bought it as a spare and needed a laptop rather than a desktop as I didn't have a monitor, now my TV has DVI/VGA input, it's irrelevant to me.

The bloke happily gave me his address and my mate verfies he thinks it's ok - he is living in Bristol.

If I went for an xbox I wouldn't have the backup element and thus wouldn't be able to sell my laptop unfortunately!
