Disclaimer:
Gmail do NOT authorise within their Conditions Of Usage for their service to be used in this nature. There for usage of this Tutorial is on the understanding that if you use ANY Gmail account for the purpose below, you do this at your Own Risk!

What Is This All About?:
In brief. You can use Gmail accounts as small storage/share drives. Meaning you can drag and drop files onto the Gmail drive and they will upload. This process is done just as if you was dragging files from one Hard Drive to another.
This means, you can use them as Storage places. Share drives between 1 or more people.
The Gmail drive shows on your 'My Computer' along with your other Devices... Hard Drives, CD-Rom etc.

What does it offer? And what are the limitations?:

Offers:
* 2656 MB (2.5GB) shown on 'My Computer' as 2.59GB.
* Execution of files straight from the Gmail Drive folder (recently introduced).
* Storage place.
* Share your files.
* Toggle between many Gmail accounts with a simple eMail and Password change.
* Delete unwanted files & folders.
* Create Folders.

Limitations:
* 10MB per file MAX
* Limitations in file names. 33 MAX.

If you are interested in giving this ago. You will need the following...
* 1 or more Gmail accounts.
* Windows platform OS (for the software explained here)
* Gmail Drive Software. (see link below)

The rest is pretty much easy.
Go here....

http://www.viksoe.dk/gmail/

And ensure you download the latest 'Gmail Drive' Software.
Once downloaded. RUN the Setup.exe and the Software will install.
You will now see a pop up Read Me. Read this if you must.
You will also be asked to Reboot! I found a reboot was not necessary.
Try the following, and if it does not show up, REBOOT!

Go to 'My Computer'. Look for GMail Drive. If you see this then you should be OK to avoid the Reboot. If you don't see this, Reboot! and return to read further. Or print it off

OK, so now you see your GMail Drive listed on My Computer.
Right Mouse Click on it and a pop-up will display a menu. Choose Login As.... Now input your Gmail eMail address and Password. (remember NOT to include the @gmail.com).
Put a tick in the Auto Login box. Click OK!

Your Gmail window will now open. To access your Gmail Drive from now on simply double click the Drive as you would any other Drive.

You can now Drag and Drop files onto the drive and they will copy across.
Remember the limitations explained above. Depending on your Internet speed will depend on the Copy Speed. Remember of course this is NOT a local Hard Drive, you are actually using an eMail account as a Storage account.

You can now simply swap eMail addresses with passwords between friends to share files. (Read Disclaimer above)

Example:
Having 2 people or more with the same Gmail eMail account on each system will enable each user to copy files onto the drive and each user with access, once uploaded have instant access to download the files or add to the Drive.
A simple 'Refresh' of the drive will be needed to show up any new additions while the drive window is open.

enjoy :slayer:
