So I used to use the old FiatECUScan on my old laptop but when that died I had to download the newer version but it won't connect to ECU and to check cable or setting.

Are there any settings I've forgotten about that i need to change please?

Thanks! I really need to try and figure out why I get MIL light on at 3000 revs, it's getting on my nerves...:bang:

I doubt you're testing it in the middle of the night, so let us know if that all works.

I see you are upside down in your avatar again. Is this an attempt to see the world the right way up? :spin:

Trust me the world is a happier more fun place upside down lol.

Funny but I'd forgotten all about this, had another water leak into the kitchen and generally painted the entire house ready for Xmas...

So again i find myself in the evening with info I can't put to use as its a bit dark to go out and fiddle about with my multi ... Lol never mind, just hope my memory is more helpful this time ?

I'd go with the ELM.
I've also got a VAGCOM cable, but never got it to communicate. Perhaps these only worked on stuff older than my 06 Panda.

mix of both cables seems to work for mine, :)

IF it all worked with FES , no obvious hardware issues with MES,
just down to remembering the set-up..,;)

( I've made notes which cable combo's work with which cars / ECU's)

The MES website has a full list of what cables and adaptors are needed for what cars and modules. However s a rough guide an ELM 327 interface will work with most everything post 2006. Pre 2001 and all 3pin interface cars will need a KL (Vag-Com) interface. Between these 2000 and 2006 an ELM 327 will work with most, but you might need a KL for some modules.

Looks like you may be right there PB, I've been unable to get my cable to work... ?
The MES program find my cable and tells me it works but it won't connect to ECU
