I found a good hosts file in :-

http://someonewhocares.org/hosts/

For anyone who has not used a hosts file, it diverts a look-up for an URL to look on your own device, where it does not find it and instantly gives up.

It is therefore a way of blocking specific pop-ups, slow-loading or defunct adverts, malware sites, "trick" porn (links by forum pranksters, disguised as something innocuous), NSFW, or anything else that is put on the list. It speeds up surfing. Some people have collected such lists (they are huge, like the one above) and you can edit your own hosts file to add things (and contribute them back to the above site).

In Linux the file is placed as /etc/hosts. You need to be admin to amend it. In Windows I gather it is something like C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts. There are instructions in the comments of the above link.
