okay so at work I can access email by inputting my username/password into outlook.
I can access those emails online via outlook webmail using a URL and domain/username & password.
The question is,can i use these details to set up Outlook on my W8 PC at home, android phone/tablet?

On PC, unlikely as most businesses, for good reason, don't open up the network ports required to enable that. Especially for SMTP, you can't just have an open relay sitting there these days.
On the mobile, possibly with EAS (Exchange Active Sync), again depends if it is enabled and opened up.

Enter your details into that and it will tell you if Activesync etc is enabled and working. You will need to know your works "LAN" domain name. Usually "<domainhere>.local".

If Outlook Web Access is enabled and working over HTTPS / Port 443 I'd bet my bottom dollar ActiveSync is too. Someone would have to go out their way to disable it...
