I am normally quite good with technology, but I need some help before I throw my laptop out of the window.

I have just got a Motorola E1000 mobile and have a blue tooth Broadcom built in wireless network card in my laptop. I don't have any software for the bluetooth on my laptop and ca't finf them or get the two to see each other.

Can anybody help.

Andy

I don't have "my bluetooth places". I installed the Windows XP service pack 2, which kept me up until 12:45am last night installing itself as I needed it today for work. It supports some bluetooth hardware, but not mine apparently. So I need some other software which will recognise my hardware. I think Widcomm does it, but I can't find it on the web.

I have now decided to put the laptop on the road outside the office and wait for a lorry to drive over it.

Alternatively I may just buy a bluetooth USB thingy and use that.

Thanks for your help though

Probably a driver issue for the bluetooth unit. Would try removing it and readdding it and seeing if that helps. If you don't have bluetooth places it's doubtful you have everything needed installed to work with it. Bluetooth support isn't native to XP so you always need to install 'stuff' to make it work, though you may be right that SP2 does come with BT support?

The same should apply to cards and dongles, XP should recognise it and install the hardware with default windows drivers, but there should be hardware specific drivers in the support area of the manufacturers website or if they don't make them and it relies totally on the default drivers it should give installation and configuration instructions, usually in PDF format.

It's also work checking that your phone is capable of bluetooth data, because some phones can only use bluetooth with headsets, hands free, etc.

Thanks, the hardware is seen, but I don't have the bluetooth drivers for it and there is nothing on manufactures website. My card is also not listed on the Windows default bluetooth compatibilty list. It says to contact the card manufacturer.

Anyway just waiting for a lorry to come and run over the laptop now as I am fed up with it !!!!
