I mistakenly told a new contact I would have a look why his Mac will NOT print to ANY of his printers. All of them are connected direct to the network and have their own IP address.

I've downloaded the latest .img driver files from the manufacturers ran the installer and then added the printer according to the instructions on the Apple website.

All I get when you print to any of them is "Printer software not installed correctly". It then pauses the print queue and no matter how many times you click resume it won't print . I've tried every method of connecting the printer including connecting to a shared one on Windows but get the same thing.

The two printers in question are both running apple-talk protocol (I double checked it was enabled). Both also have the option of Bonjour but I'm not sure how you configure that on the printer :bang:.

One is a HP Colour Laserjet (can't remember exact model), other is a ricoh alficio C2500 multifunction, The other is a Canon W8400PG which is a massive roll printer that can do a1,a2 etc.

I've tried using each connection method, I.E IP, Jet Direct, CUPS, Bonjour (on the canon). Each one moans the software isn't installed properly. I'd love to know how I thought you just download and run the mac files and run throug the installer? :bang:

The only way i got any out put was by connecting to a shared windows one (the Ricoh) and using the generic apple PS driver. That did print but only garbage :(.

The user is seriously considering that tbh. He's fed up of it not working with anything properly. I've come to my conclusion of that it's stable because nothing bloody works :bang:

I'll check that cups thing next time I work on it.

I'm thinking about trying this too:-

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1341 This should hopefully undo everything everyone's ever tried (he's had about 4-5 different companies have a look).
