If anyone is interested in getting involved with motorsport marshalling at race circuits, rallies, and allsorts of other motorsport events, then come and join the marshals club.Theres often a shortage of marshals at events, and if there arent enough marshals to safely run the event it could be cancelled.
The general feeling according to Autosport magazine, is that unless more marshals join up, there may be far less motorsport in years to come.
Marshalling is voluntary but entry to events is free and most circuits send a guest ticket when you receive your entry ticket.
I've been a member just over a year and its been a blast. An added incentive is that members are being given the opportunity to take part in a series of track days at the end of the season, paid for by Jonathan Palmer.
An ideal opportunity to play with your fast Fiats!!

bumping cause we still need more marshalls! If you're into motorsport and want to get close to the action - have a try of marshalling. Anyone wanting to try it should visit http://www.volunteersinmotorsport.co.uk/

If anyone wants to try Croft Circuit feel free to contact me. Below are a few pics various snappers have got of action at my post last weekend.

I'm guessing you have a GPS, so therefore are over 17/18 so no problem becoming a trainee.

Other than time, transport to the circuit and food+drink (most events provide food and drink for marshalls however it doesn't hurt to have more) - there are no other fees. You don't have to buy the orange overalls until you decide it's something you want to do - and they will invite you for training days (always good for work saying you have fire training).

i don't own a GPS at the moment, waiting for it to arrive. lol, i am 18 at the moment. i might look into it, thanks

lol i have a couple, i'm in telford, so it could either be oulton park or donnington park.

How often are you required to attend events a Croft Helcat?

Can you take your camera with you?

As many or few as you want to. To keep your grade though you need to do 5 events a year. There is nothing stopping you taking a camera but you can't use it while on post. Get loads of photos in pit-lane and the paddock, and usually a free pass for someone else to attend.

oh right i was under the impression that you had to attend every event

Nope. I have attended nearly every event because I'm enjoying it. Latest purchases were a set of high-vis waterproof trousers and I was given a high-vis gore-tex waterproof jacket. Trousers a bargain for £9.98. If I hadn't been given the jacket it would have only cost £21.14! Going to be very useful with the likes of the Rallycross, Renault Winter series, Jack Frost Rally etc.

Just croft as it's closest. Might do a couple of weekends next year at Knockhill. Found a great set of photos of the Formula Ford fire.

and scariest things I've ever seen. Formula 3 going around Clervaux... or in these photos not quite. I was stood just out of shot taking cover from the flying gravel :D

Car 7 is the championship leader, car 23 is the only guy who could catch him, car 21 is 23s team mate.
