Hi Guys,

Need to replace my flexi section, has scraped the floor a few times by the looks of it and is blowing so want to sort this before my RR gets done...

Anyone got any ideas of a alternative? dont want to get another flexi for the same to happen... but at the same time i'm sure i heard somewhere that running without a flexi is a bad idea? (though i did on one of my 1242 cinqs )

Flexies are really needed, you could try using a sprung section where you're having problems then relocating the flexi section somewhere less exposed.

You really need a flexi in Alex. When we had Emma's car on the r/r we measured that the engine under max load moved approx 25mm closer to the strut brace bar, it was so much it was close to touching it, this is torque that does that and as you know the hi-boost turbo's produce laods of torque. With out a lfexi thais movement will eventually break something else where either exhaust, or manifold blowing etc.

I had a mare of a problem with flexis getting wrecked and was pulling my hair out until I got this solution

front pipe>custom flexi section with short ends>janspeed middle

Dunno if thats clear but basically I cut the old flexi out which was the janspeed bit, got this little flexi made up at an exhaust place, put it in i.e. sliding over the other pipes then I clamped it up either side.

It never failed again after that and I had 2 go in 2 years and this one lasted till the end.

Just a suggestion.

Would it be worthwhile having two flexi's in the system, or are they restrictive?

I'll have SS manifold with sprung bit -> cat -> flexy -> main exhaust.

Sound ok or do you think a flexy before the cat, right after the sprung part would be a better idea?
