The MPI Sei I believe is different to earlier Sei's and Cinq's as it conforms to certain standards that allow easier mapping and diagnostics etc. I have done a little search and can't find much out though?

I think it adheres to a ODB or ODB 2 standard, but it it does, and what this actually means I'm not too sure lol.

Anyone know what standard it is? I'm looking with respect to it running the 1.2 16V. If it is a certain standard, I will have more hope of getting help from some mapping/tuning specialists. I don't want to ring up without knowing the details though.

Cheers,

Kristian

It's OBD, not ODB.;)

This seems to confirm that the 2001 on cars are OBD2 compliant.

Doesn't mean a huge amount, though, as there are at least 3 different protocols and I'd guess that folk would be a bit leery of pratting about with something they were not familiar with. I think Smurfhead Gaz has mentioned a few people, either here or in the other place.

With RR time running in the region of £150 an hour, unless you're doing something moderately radical in terms of tuning it might be cheaper to buy the ECU and engine loom together with the engine.

Ah, that's why my search wasn't throwing much up ;)

I know RR costs a lot...what I was going to ring around about, was to see if I can just have the factory standard map of the 1.2 16V programmed into my ECU.

I know it won't be as good as a RR session, but should then be just as good as the 1.2's ECU and I won't have to mess around with locks, code boxes, wiring looms and a whole host of other things. The additional time and cost to change the ECU, code box etc, would be greater than even an hour on a RR I guess?

I just did a search with the correct terms and it seams the FIAT's are ISO standard, so I'll ring around two local companies today and pick their brains :)

I suspect the car will fire on the standard 1.1 map, and run, but I guess fuelling will be out, and i don't want to run it lean

The other option is a custom ECU, but again, were talking more money than what i'm hoping to achieve. These are more likely plans for the futre after the initial outlay is done.

Cheers,

Kristian
