Fitting guide of a K+N - Take out of box, check forum, notice loads of threads about how it is poor in terms of poor performance due to sucking in hot air, think about it, contact GSR, ebay The K+N

It's sitting directly on top of the throttle body. Right above the hot engine/manifold etc. There's two downsides. Sucking in the hot air (less dense, lesser bang) in this position, and also, being so close to the throttle body, optimum power will be achieved at around 12,000rpm.

Okay okay, the K&N is in a stupid position as stock but that doesn't stop the filter being half decent. Get a piece of pipe and have the filter sitting in the gap between the gearbox and front bumper (front right hand side of the engine bay looking at the bumper).

Re: K&N Air Filter fitting guide/prices

Although its perfromance is lacking on the cento engines, the noise however it makes is a good one, so if not in a quest for ultimate performance from your air filter then the K+N is decent on that front

Ah, Edinburgh, so you will have had your tea.

I am in Glasgow, ish, welcome.

Is the 57i kit not the one that puts the filter down in the front corner of the car, rather than on top of the TB?

Cheers

Re: K&N Air Filter fitting guide/prices

Again nout wrong with the filter it's all about location, in stock location on a punto it really hit the mid-range hard but the top end was better unless you mounted it on the end of a pipe in a nice cool location under the bonnet. If you're buying a new induction kit then go get something decent that (kinda works) out of the box, the budget option is that Focus kit & there are various cheap to not so cheap generic enclosed filter systems best is generally considered to be the GSR kit.

rallycinq, the K&N 57i sits on top of the TB in standard config.

Walk to bin.
Lift lid on bin.
Place K&N inside bin.
Close lid.
Forget about a K&N for ever more.

Ah, OK, I thought the 57i kits were the ones with the extension piece and the cold air box. They must call that something else.

Cheers
