You should have a large volume of air in the tubing after the filter, not moving very fast, then as it gets drawn in it will accelerate due to the narrowing causing more turbulance in the cylinders, and hence a better mix. The 50mm internal is still greater than standard (y) so should work well.

The throttle body itself is a proven design from the hi-flowing K-series engine, all we have done is taper it just a little bit more to match the inlet manifold. The idea came from some development work that Emma's Dad has done to prototype engines in the development stage, so it hasn't been thrown together but thought about and considered, we did buy a Punto throttle body, but decided not to use it.

We will of course only know how well it works when we come to getting it rolling roaded :)

Coming along nicely!

So, it's 16v inlet manifold and plenum, adaptor plate and K series TB?

Is that the plastic manifold, or did you paint the aluminium one black?

Any idea of how much heat the TB will take before it wilts? (Thinking of Blue goes one injector per cylinder.)

The inlet manifold is standard MK1 1.2 16V Punto Sporting, so bottom half alloy which is noice for port matching, top half plastic, later models I believe is 100% plastic.

As for heat, should be fine, new Pug/Mini Cooper turbo engine has plastic manifold.

Thanks Aaron. So as not to sabotage your and Emma's thread I've started a blog at this point!

nice progress :worship:

the ecu looks quality but have a feeling its by no means cheap and the throttle body is a nice surprise i though thatb tou d been lucky and found a larger example that would fit with very slight mods but it seems it was far more tricky

good luck with it really cant wait to see this at a show one day or even just see a rolling road print out with the mods your carrying out :D

Progress over the weekend, the wires are just about all sorted and ready for final positioning in the ecu! We are a step closer :D

This means it won't be too long now for setup to begin!(y)

Latest purchase CDA induction kit......

moving along very nicely, quite quickly really considering the customness of it all(y)

common for them to be plastic now, mainly on smoothness I would imagine??

but inlets tend to get very cold, if not frozen from carb freezing (still get it with injection I think), but I thought it would make sense for it all to be metal that way engine heat moves up and warms the air slightly???

Not quite up and running just yet :)

We rolled it out the garage on sunday, so took the opportunity to take a few photos, i think its looking pretty good sat on those wheels in my opinion ;)

So whats been going on recently, well Dad's been working on the exhaust system, the flexy section and cat has been done so far. Just need to find a nice back box to finish it off.

Looks very nice! Mine looks very similar (cept with white Compos)... are you gonna get the rear arches rolled? Think im gonna have to get mine done soon.

Thankyou :)
Yeah plan is to get the arches rolled, because clearance is a slight issue with the 15s. I wanted white Mo's but found these silver ones at a very good price, so may have them resprayed if i have left over money!

Looking very good! I think the 15s give it a very subtle brutality and it looks like you decided to stay with the 195/45 Rainsports. Good move, although I'd have made you an offer: I wanted them for Blue. ;)

You know, I think silver is the right colour for those wheels on that car, although, without seeing it, white is the colour I'd have picked, too.

The tyres look the same as my Toyo Proxies?

nice pics ::yum: :worship: : a proper sleeper look but with a bit of attitude

whats the cat off? or if new what spec is it suited to? for example is it a sei 1.1 spec or suited to the emisions of the 1368? on other forums people are using sports cats etc but from what i can see that isnt one ? surprised you havent or is it cost related?

also what bore is the exhaust all the way through assume its gonna be bigger than the small 1108 pipework?

progress looks good is this gonna be ready for the shows this year? would love to have a look at it :)

good luck with the progress
