Hi everyone,
I have a 10 year old 1.1 cinquecento S.
Since purchase I have had a continual problem with fuel consumption. Initially the car was leaking fuel from underneath and from the petrol cap. The garage replaced the fuel cap and after lots of pressure from me replaced the fuel tank and hose thingy that runs to the tank. I have looked under the car and cannot find any leak from underneath but the car still stinks of petrol particularly when I fill it up and I am getting aprox 120 miles to a tank of petrol!! Not the fuel consumption I had been expecting as it takes £30 of petrol so I'm guessing around 6 gallons.
I have run out of ideas as to the cause of this and am tearing my hair out. Any ideas please guys? :bang:

smell of fuel ,maybe a breather hose has disconnected itself under the engine bay,its possible your mistaken and its not petrol but the smell of oil or something from the crankcase breather,

your low consumption could be the car is over-fuelling ,when was it last serviced? did they change the fuel filter etc?
