I have a 1999 Seicento Sporting, with a Blaupunkt Lausanne CD31 installed. However, when I try to play CDs, it says "CD error", and the radio is just a load of fuzzy noises (like when you are trying to tune it in). I have scanned for every station, but to no avail. I have heard of some having to put in a code for it to work, but it doesn't prompt for me to do this. I am also unsure of where the serial for the radio is to get this code. There is an off-white sticker on the back of the unit itself, but this has worn with age, taking with it any print that may have been on there. Any ideas guys?

as far as im aware blaupunkt cd players, need to be connected using a specific blaupunkt iso adapter, not just an autoleads one,but not sure rallycinq would know he has one in the manta (i think)

anyway, usually if the player sais cd error,it means the cd inserted is not supported or broken,so try an original cd that you bought from a shop or something,

fuzzy sounds when in radio mode, sounds like aerials not connected,or your trying to tune radio stations in a garage,or youve just not tuned it ,?

As far as I know, it is all connected. But I'm no expert, so will get my sister's electrician boyfriend to look at it. I literally got the car 2 days ago, so havent really paid much attention to the more minor additions to the car until now. It sounds more like a connection problem, as I have tried to tune it in a couple of different areas, so I don't think its a poor signal problem as such. Thanks very much for your help, will let you know what happens.

I do indeed have one in the Manta. I hardwired it in as per the instructions so didn't use made up cables.

My only thought to the OP, is this. If you've just bought the car, whats to say the previous owner didn't take out a good head unit and fit a knackered one just to fill the hole in the dash.

Cheers

Possible, but pessimistic! At least the Blaupunkts are serviceable!

My guess is that the poor radio will turn out to be the arial not connected. As to the CD error -- provided they're inserted the right way up(!) --- it could be nothing more than that the unit needs cleaning.

Thanks for your help guys. I contacted the garage I got it from, and they said that if I take it to my local Uplands car music systems shop, they will foot the bill for me, as it should've been checked before sale. I am therefore not going to touch the radio, then they can't say I broke it!!
