I'm sure you'll be able to find a scrappers with the original full airbox set up for about a tenner. Could try it for nothing. if that is your problem, get a GSR!:p

My mate had a 57i kit on his polo for about a year. The cold air was dragging more fuel through the engine than it needed. Instead of burning in the engine it burnt up inside the CAT. Result a hollow CAT and plenty of backfiring. Just a thought.

Neither. The ECU will require the map sensor to be connected. It tells the ECU when the pressure in the manifold changes. The system will work without it, as yous does, but the ECU will never learn to do without it, so either stick with the jerkiness, or get it attached.

Cheers

It will almost certainly be the MAP sensor if this is not connected.

Another possible problem might be the Lambda sensor. Amanda's Cinq had exactly the symptoms you describe (hesitates for a second, then picks up all of a sudden, most gears - usually in the lower rev range as you accelerate)

I swapped the Lambda sensor over from a 'spare' Cinq I have access to and the problem was cured. Might be worth checking this out as well.

We have luckily managed to keep the sensor off the donor car, so it has run fine since.

MAP sensor is what I would check first, but Lambda is the next option I would investigate....

Regards,

Bruce.
