Seicento Schumacher abs problem.

Right, how do I start without sounding a right prawn!.My passenger side rear hand brake was sticking so I took off the drum, loosened the linkage greased it and rebuilt the lot.No sticking brakes job sorted. Unfortunately ABS light now comes on after a while.Stripped it all down again and it seems that I have damaged the magnetic strip which sits on the hub.Can I buy a new strip,it looks like a rubberised magnetic ring or do I have to bite the bullet and buy a new hub and bearing with the ring attached for 83.97 from a fiat dealer part no 46530316.Any help would be much appreciated.(the old saying is right, you can't teach an old dog new tricks)

Re: Seicento Schumacher abs problem.

YOu may be waiting a long time for a direct answer as so few people actually have ABS on Cento's, so no experience of them.

The only people who could answer your query will be Fiat themselves, if they sell the strip on its own then buy it, if not then bite the bullit and buy the lot.

Re: Seicento Schumacher abs problem.

Are there any experts out there who might be able to help me ? I know ABS systems are few and far between but having read a lot of threads it seems everything has occurred at some time or other ,or am I destined to be disappointed

Re: Seicento Schumacher abs problem.

I don't know if you can order your part separately, however I'm going to impart some advice.

1) If you pull the ABS module completely the light goes away
2) Remove the ABS module and be happy!

My Sei had ABS and after some fun and games pulled the ABS module, at which point I realised it was causing early locking of the front wheels, reducing the control you have while braking when compared to manual cadence braking. It is also suspected to be the culprit for two rather alarming bouts of fade on track. I will say that I'm not anti-ABS/driver aids, I quite like the ABS/ALB system on my Volvo, it's just the ABS on my Sei is awful.

Re: Seicento Schumacher abs problem.

Never tried or seen an ABS one in the flesh. A few people say they are good on the cento, a few other say its rubbish. TBH I've never needed it on mine, but you could hunt the scrappies for the part, any genuine schumacher or a few have it as factory extra.

Post a pic of what you mean, as im sure most people don't even know what it looks like (me included)
