ok heres the problem my tracking is miles out which i rekon is not helping or even the causal reson for my bearings whining at 45MPH and over. my local fiat dealer rekon the bearings have to be pressed in:( im not a big fan of presses and much prefer to drift things in with a 4lb lump hammer and a correct sized socket or drift ive done it to Tractor units that i work with day in day out and ive done it to my bike and ill do it again dammit:devil: does anyone have any real reason y its a bad idea to use a brumageham screwdriver or should i be parting with my hard earned cash just for some spotty apprentice to get his hands dirty.

yes the tracking will get sorted VERY SOON!!

i was actually tryin to get an answer with respect to the tolerances of fitment. the wheel bearings i deal with its possible to drift in and out without a lot of hassle where as some bushes i work with u need 20tonnes of pressure to remove them i didnt know if the wheel bearings on the cinqs were as i thought or something ive never come across before.

Me and a technician in the mech shop next door removed the bearings from my spare uprights on friday.

Hub and bearing inner race came out with brute force using a 4lb lump hammer and a good drift, we also managed to remove the outer race from the upright in the similar way athough a lot more encouragement was needed.

The inner race needed to be removed from the hub using a puller mind...only 10 tons of pressure though.

TBH I wouldnt instantly expect it to be a drift out job, it may well be, but it may not be.

You can carefuly angle grind the inner race off the stub. don't go all the way through, just make it thin on two sides to lesson its tension on the stub. You should be able to split it with an old screwdriver.
Would not recommend hammering bearings in as the seal can pop out like on mine!
