OK, I apologise in advance to what is gonna be the noobest of noob questions (probably!)

I have seen MPI and SPI mentioned frequently, and also noticed that MPI's are more expensive than SPI's....

Can someone please enlighten me to the differences? :chin:

Thank you :D

MPI is the multipoint injection and SPI is the singlepoint, its the best way to describe the Mk1 seicento's and the mk2 seicentos :) among other changes this was the main one and is the main one people use :) the spi's were the early ones up until Y Plates which was when the mpi replaced the spi :) at this stage all of the seicento range (s/sx etc) became 1108cc's also with the mpi engine :)

ahhhh

I'll have to read over that a couple more times to get my head around it :spin:

I might have to ask for a translation, but I will try my best to understand it all on my own :D

At least I'll be learning something new though :D

THANK YOU :D

OK i feel stupid now!

Just read a little article and realised the simplicity of what you have just said :D

What would be the performance difference in that? Does the difference justify spending that little bit extra on an MPI?

MPIs will be later cars. Whether they're better depends on what you want to do with them.

The MPI system is much more sophisticated than the SPI one which means that rather than plop a new chip in you've really got to remap them if you want to do much in the way of tuning. Off the shelf, MPIs tend to be a little smoother, without the flat spot which many SPIs have. I have my doubts as to whether they perform any better, and there is far more tuning stuff around for SPIs.

On t'other hand, you can probably pick up a better Cinq Sporting for the same money as an SPI Sei;)

What you pay for the MPI is a slightly different look front bumper + indicators, apparently, a touch more refinement & a newer car. If anything the MPIs should be a touch slower than the SPI as they weigh a bit more. Also modification is going to cost you a little more & some parts that you can get for an SPI aren't readily available for the MPI (my MPI Sei is using a SPI exhaust system for this reason).

Doh! A mod and gets it wrong

Oct 2000 was introduction so you can get them on an X plate although they are few and far between

Hmm strange, mines a late 2000 (December) X reg SPI model. I suppose that must be to do with when it was produced and when it was first registered.

Kev

Theres even 51 reg SPI's!! As seikev said all to do with stock levels at the time and registration
