General cars slower than a 899 cinq

in my 899 cinq i can beat fiestas, corsas, novas, polos, old escorts, 205s, 105s, taxis, ford ka. Even beat a saxo the other day but she gave up at 90, i didnt :D
micras are ok, clios sometimes. Depends on the other drivers. U gotta take it into the red though, 25mph in 1st 45 in 2nd(can go past 50, but not something i recomend!) and 70 in 3rd if you are racing hard.
You will be supreised with what you can beat as the 899 cinq is fast from 0-35ish.

I once timed the 899cc 0-60 and it felt fast but it was still 18secs. You must have a weird 899cc if you can get past 90. It takes about a minute to get there and doesn't go much faster unless you're going downhill

Usually i can get 85-90 on a flat, but it does take its time after 75/80mph. Going down hill i can get over 100 but its got to be a long down hill, once i had it well off the scale, the needle was touching the bottom of the speedo!big hill :)
I agree though that it seems faster than 18secs 0-60, but the stop watch doesnt lie.

it's pretty good thrashing the little things. The 899cc screams:D I once had mine upto 100 and it was so funny watching peoples faces as I flew past them on the M62! not recommended though for the engine though. Mine took a beating which is why I now no longer have it

ABout all a 899 CC cinq could outrun with the same driver in each and normal road conditions is another 899cc cinq in slightly worse condition and with a stupidly large front high drag bumper.

It is one of the slowest cars on the road!

SOrry guys

My first signiture (a lot of thought put into it): If you can't find the switch to switch your fogs off I am sure I can help you! Damn fogs.

my 899cc shifted, it was very nippy and i could beat most things off the starting line, it depends on how good you and the other driver are, but they're not all that slow, mine could up to 85 on the motorway quick enough and sit there cruising. I suppose it also depends how well the cars been looked after in its life.

You could beat most off the line?! Doubt it! You wouldn't even beat my Uno 1litre! It's nothing bad against your or your car but it is just the matter of physics, a 900cc engine producing 39-41bhp (figures taken from parkers) can't out run 99% of other cars because although yes, it is a light car, it has very little power and most cars have more power/unit weight.

Again, it isn't anything bad towards the cinq, it just wasn't intended for that purpose. Even with good gearing, it just won't be powerful enough to beat much just due to the design of the car.

It doesn't matter how well it has been looked after hugely, it will never be much fast than about 16 seconds + 0-60. Granted, if you race a 70 year old granny in her Porsche you might outrun her but you cant expect much else.

I never had a prob with it, I even miss the dinky little thing :( to be fair they probably just weren't trying as hard as me, u don't tend to try hard when you see a little cinqy at the side of you, but it still shifted!

pghstochaj the 899 cinq is suprisingly quick. on paper the performance is crap but i beat a focus to 40 and he did try as you should have heard his engine, it was screaming louder than mine! mine can get to 85 and stick to it providing i dont go up a steep hill. coming home from devon to south wales i cruised with a brnd new mondeo at 95 for most of the time i was on the m5, the guy couldnt believe it that i was still next to him at those speeds, i accept the fact if he put his foot down he was gone but the cinq stayed at that speed with the two people in and back seats down full of lugage. the 899cc cinq deservs more respect!

Chris

I am not doubting they shift and the speed will of course feel more in a little car (if i compare my Uno to my Scenic, it is a massive difference in preceptions)

Chris, seriously, it is very unlikely you would have beaten a focus and if you did, your engine would have been revving so high you wouldn't have been able to hear his...!

A 0.9 litre to a 1.6 isn't even a competition. Just like comparing a 1.6 focus to a 2.0 mondeo...! This is especially true off the line but less so in turns when the cars handling of course makes a difference.

Which M5 is that because I though we had a nat speed limit of 70? :p!
