Hi fellow Fiatmen

I have a 1998 Seicento 1.1 that has developed an annoying problem. The car starts ok from cold & is ok when hot if re-started straight away - but takes 6 or 7 trys if the car is left for 10 mins or so. Fiat replaced the pipe to the map sensor which didn't do much good. I will have to take it back to Fiat if all else fails but as they have failed once, I am trying to work it out myself. I have no warning light or fault codes stored. any suggestions welcome.

Thanks
Dave

how old is the battery? warm starting can be a battery related problem...

Eh... I presume the car is turning over, just not starting.

If this is the case, then once it has failed to satrt, whip a plug out. If there is a whif of fuel then its a lack of spark, if there is no fuel then it will be a fuel related issue. When was the fuel filter last changed? Can you hear the pump prime when you turn the ignition on?

Cheers

Both Punto and Sei suffered from turning the engine over but not catching when warm, twas that the battery was giving up when it got heated up. Cold starts were fine and hot starts were okayish, but warm were a total nightmare...

OK, I can't see how that happens unless its an earthing issue.
