Technical My fan doesnt work!

Had fun today at the MOT station - failed on the stuck handbrake, but £18 of labour later (3 hours) the car passed :)

However they did overheat the car to do the emission test and water started to pi** all over the place.

Was told the fan didn't cut in - bear in mind I've got a 899cc Sei. 1st Job how do I test the fan to see if its working or not, do I disconnect the fan and test it on the battery? Temp sensor could be shot? or knacker rad?

Help.

Check fuse, if intact, disconnect wires from fan switch on rad. Short them out using small piece of wire. Ignition on and fan should run. If it does, replace fan switch.

Cheers

I have checked the fuse and thats okay, still intacted.

Now on the next step, locating the fan switch - where is this? I have removed the drivers side wheel arch cover to get access to the fan, it moves okay but not freely - but its not stuck. Where is the switch to bypass to check the fan?

Thanks

Right I had a go trying to get mine sorted out today, I've bypass the sensor and no joy, fan won't turn. Did a fused link from the battery to the fan - stuck! Looks like a new one is required now.
