Ive posted here before on my continuing Sei Sporting Problem.
The car sometimes cuts out at junctions and when idling and sometimes wont start.
Been to 3 garages now and cannot find fault. My lastest garage hooked the car up to a diagnostic machine. The guy found an error(s) but cannot match up the error code. The guy is almost certain it is a low voltage problem. Does anyone know what this could be/mean?
He's cleaned the crank sensor and it wasnt that. Fuel filter been changed as well, but not a fuel problem now.
thanks

Post the code up here if you can, there's quite a few people here that would recognise it.

Idle control valve needing a clean?

i will do. Seemingly the error code is "unkown" when cross-referred to the error code guide (something like that, so im told). I'l also tell him to clean the I.C.V. although he and the the lad with the diagnostic machine both reckon its a voltage issue now. (loss of voltage), he did say it could mean a number of things, wiring etc...

will let you know
cheers

further to my problem, the guy looking at my car thought it might be a micro-relay at fault but he's now been told to rule this out.
All earth conections are fine.
Any further ideas would be helpful, thanks

Must be something about Scottish based Seicentos because mines now doing the same randomly every few weeks or so, can anyone point out with a diagram/picture where abouts I can find the Idle control valve under my Sei sporting 1.1's bonnet? (its a pre facelift model)

Thanks,

Kev

me too! think i'll have a look at the idle control valve and replace it. Would prefer the car to idle a little bit higher. My shin splint is in agony keeping my foot on the gas whilst sitting at lights etc, if i keep it above 1000rpm then i know it wont cut out.
As Kev asked, any pics of the valve much appreciated...

You can't raise the idle with the standard ECU, not even the fabled McRich chip solves this one.

I don't have any pictures of the idle air control valve, but its the tubular thingy on the bottom part of the TB.

Cheers

Massive botdge, but a washer on the end of the throttle cable to add a VERY little bit of tension to the cable, it will idle higher then....but I wouldn't do that, I'd rather fix it!

If you think it is power related, get an ammeter on it, try a new battery?

Could be a whole bunch of different things though, as your aware! Wouldn't like to guess with such vauge symptoms.
