Hi all,
I have recently bought a Cinqo for daughter. It in fact had a brand new MOT on Thursday no problems.
Today I parked the car and the car started leaking petrol, this was quite profuse and then stopped after five minutes. The tank gauge hasn't moved that much so it was about 1/2 pint? The car drives and doesn't leak and then you stop the engine and it leaks. It appears to be above where the fuel input to the tank is and to right but I havn't got ramps.
Any one have any ideas before I speak to the guy I bought it off !!
Cheers

Same as mine, it's either the fuel vapour return or breather hose, I'm almost certain mine is the fuel vapour return. Can get at them under the rear seats, but there is very litle room unless you drop the fuel tank down :)

Hi both,
Sorry that was my fault as I didn't know whether I should put in bodyshop as well?
Thanks for the advice, I am taking it to a local garage on Wed as I am useless. Is it a fairly small cheapish job or shall I scrap the car !! It is pink so I am looking for an excuse as I have to drive it as well as my daughter!
Thanks again I am very grateful.
Oh can I drive it to the garage ok? It is only 4 miles away?

Ok reread your 1st post hmmm you could be right.

I'll leave my orginal ramble incase someone searches.

Why do you assume the leak is from the top of the tank?

A more common fault is the tanks leak from the seam of the two halves and if you only keep a quarter of a tank it won't leak but if you fill it past half or near it the motion will let it **** out.

  Just to update anyone who goes searching for what happened.

Exactly as Liam says above. Common fault was a split tank, cost £233 fitted (ouch).

Sorry, was assuming the MOT man would have noticed the rusty tank.

Cheers

D

Are you joking, mine had just had it's MOT before i bought it, and it was rusty to feck and you could almost put your finger through it.

The Master spoketh!

Just joking, went thru all the tank saga myself, you should've asked here how to go about it cos theres loads of cheap ways around it, the tank can be bitch especially when you hear the bolts shearing!

Bad luck.
