Yesterday was quite wet (did this matter?), and the yellow "check-engine" light did not disappear after I switched on the main engine. I tried again today, the engine started, but the yellow light still stayed on. What kind of problem this could be? Mine Sei is 2001 SX, 50k miles on the clock, just did services in early Sep. Any idea how much it would cost to read the code from FIAT? Is there something I could look at before taking it to read the code?

thanks

Not sure on fiats price for a code read but any independent garage should be able to do one providing they have the equipment. ring or visit local places and get qoutes, expect to pay between 30-40 quid :)

In my experience if the engine is still running absolutely perfectly this could be a lambda sensor issue on one of the two exhaust manifold located sensors or a cat converter problem which could mean it is on the way out. Have seen it on a few mpi sei's.

It's getting weird. After refuelled my Sei, I drove it for a few miles (<10), and then stopped. When I started again, the yellow light disappeared as expected! Since then, I have not seen the light stayed on.

Did anyone else have the same experience? Anything I need to do at this stage?
