Ok car (cinq sporting) is nearly ready for the mot after a new cambelt alternator and exhaust but after taking it for a drive there is now a louf]d humming noise from the rear, sounds like the wheels bearings are shot!

Went to the local motor factors and they are £60 each plus the vat!! Accoring to them you have to replace the whole hub!? Is this true? If so is there anywhere that does them cheaper or is there a way to check to see if it is the bearings that have gone!?

you replace the whole hub, they're £25 from shop4parts. product number: S4P635

And dont forget to use new hubnuts

Rear bearing for cento is indeed intregral with the hub, £60 is a bit steep, i paid £30 at my local motor factor.
They are actually a very good design, only looking at 10 mins to change them.

take it thats happened to you before then arc.. can't quite picture that in my head but yeh sounds like that might start getting tricky lol

basically when i pulled the hub off, it left the inner bearing race on the stub axlel.. see here:

Sounds like a bit of a nightmare, but not to much of a problem, just for puntodan incase it happens to him

Nice one guys £25 each is a lot more reasonable than £60 each! Looking in the haynes manual it looks like it is quite straight forward to do, just hope the drums come off ok and doesn't leave me with a nightmare hiding under there!

TBH best ot get a breaker bar to release the hub nuts.when i did mine it wouldnt shift with a short breaker bar(didnt have a long one then)
ended up getting the local garage to break the seal with the air gun

Usually one of those wheelbrace extension bars will do the job,but make sure you beat out the staking first! You'll need a deep socket: my factor does them for £6 or so (the black ones used in 1/2" impact guns). The front ones are 32mm, I think the rears are the same.

Dunno,to be honest, but I've always found those to be little use unless you're dealing with a screw head. Otherwise, a tube on the end of an extension will always work better.

leverage is required here.a long breaker bar is about £10 and worth the buying

i would worry more about doing it up to propper tightness
