Hi

Does anyone know if there is supposed to be a none return valve or something in the washer system on my wifes 2001 Seicento 1.1 ? As when you wash the front screen all is fine but when you go to wash the rear one water again comes onto the front screen ??

Cheers

You can get them for about £1 at halfords, should be somewhere around the bonnet catch (rear washer) and the bonnet hinge (front washer) if the sei has the same layout as a cinq.

Hi

Thanks for the location / help

I'm still a bit confused as to how the NRV if up there neer the bonnet hinge woud be able to sort out front from rear wash ?

I 'imagined' there to be 2 pumps in the reservior one for front and one for rear wash is this correct ?

if not how the 'F***' does it work ?

There are 2 seperate pumps on a cinq so I imagine so on a sei. It does seem a bit odd that the front works fine but the rear sprays at the front. The one up near the bonnet hinge (front washer) probably won't make any difference, I was just teling you for reference ;)

The later seis only have one pump, this can get screwed up giving these symptoms, I'd look behind the drivers arch liner to see if two pipes are routed into one.

Ah, the single pump job. OK, these work by spinning one way to do the front, then reversing the polarity for the rear. Sounds as though the valve in the pump has packed up.

I think its new pump time.

Thanks for all the info, this now seems to make sense to me and pump time it could well be !!

Hi,
Did you solve your problem? I have had a seicento for about 2 months and it has started to do exactly the same thing to me today! It's the first car I've had and I'm fairly clueless so am looking for a solution that's worked for someone else before I start messing.
Thanks.

It's an 02, so just over 5 years. I have had it about 6 weeks. It's the 'S' model.
Thanks.

Thanks for the info - sounds expensive - will check it out when I can get to see it in the daylight!
