Was out driving yesterday and a familiar noise came back to haunt me, my clutch made a snap noise and the pedal sunk to the floor. Had to get the car recovered, and this morning I spent repairing it. Was a little surprised to find the quadrant snapped and the split pin gone with it but also the clutch cable is only 6 months old, so I thought there was no point replacing it as it's been fine, until on closer inspection I found this (see pics, pretty bad quality im afraid)

really lucky to have the parts at hand, but why should the clutch cable hook be fractured in this way?

Because the damaged quadrant was making the cable work at odd angles.

I see, many thanks for that. The quadrant is the most time consuming thing i've ever had to do when trying to get the hook back through it!!

the plate puts extra strain on the cable at odd angles as mentioned above, it can be a pain to get to, but I found unbolting the pushrod from the driver's side (13mm nut) made changing it easy as you can remove the lot from behind the dash, the only tricky bit then is putting the nut back on, you'd think Fiat would have made a modification to these plates of some sort, they cost what, £2?

I ended up taking the rod off to make life a bit easier, did help a little to be honest, but its such a pain in the arse when the quadrant does go.
