Have very high petrol consumption on Seicento SX 1999 899cc. No petrol leaks anywhere that i can see. Its got 70000 on the clock and seems to run fine, ie the choke is not staying on, so i am a bit puzzled:confused: Its gone through a quarter tank in 4 days of short journeys, max 25 to 35 miles. Any ideas?

That sounds normal, the tank is 35-40 litres, whatever that is in gallons. I do a 40 mile trip to college and back and that uses roughly a gallon of fuel in my cinq sporting. Short trips increase fuel consumption.

You should be seeing 300 miles from a tank easy

He's doing 25-30 miles a day and after 4 days it's used a quarter of a tank. $x25miles = 100miles, 100x4 = 400. Not saying you can't work that out, but I think that's normal fuel consumption IMO :)

Well i read it different to you then.
I thought it was, a 1/4 of a tank has been used after driving 25 to 35 miles TOTAL over a few days. The OP is worried about high fuel consumption, so why get worried if there is not a problem. They have checked for leaks. If i got 400 miles from a tank i wouldn't worry about leaks.

sounds about right I get 280 miles before the reserve light comes on from full if I use high octane fuel and about 250 if it's the cheaper stuff, thats on the same motor as you the only mod that might effect consumption on mine is the 14" wheels.

My car also has a lot less miles(10300).

OK, when was it last serviced? Oil, plugs, leads, fuel filter. Possibly coil packs, or lambda sensor. All seem to have some affect on fuel consumption. Is the ECU light on the dash? If so get the code read and that may tell you what item is at fault.

Thanks for all the advice. Its at the bottom of the gauge at the moment. No warning lights are coming on and it was serviced about 6 weeks ago. My girlfriends driving it at present and will fill it up and see just what it does on a full tank.(y)
