Hi,

Since my son fitted an Alpine head unit, Sub and amp the battery light has started to glow. The sub and amp are now removed and in a Focus but we still have the same problem.
Sometimes it remains off, other times it will glow on and off with the indicators, the wipers make it glow etc ... youv.e got the picture.

Funny thing is the battery always seems strong to start the car even when it's cold and miserable.

The Amp and sub obviously have done some damage, but where should I start looking? and is it possible that the alternator etc are still supplying the correct charge as the battery doesn't seem to run down.

Thanks in advance for any comments,

Paul

Hi Rallycinq,

I guess you mean measure the volts accross the battery and I guess over 12 volts is good anything less would be low output from the Alternator.

Where do I find these diodes and are they replaceable?

I won't get a chance to look this weekend - too much eating / drinking / riding motorbike and mountain bike - wait - there is no such thing as too much of any of the above !!! I must be getting confused.

Thanks for the reply,

Paul

Hi..
Had the same problem 3 days ago..The light started to shine, so took off the alternator(my girlfriends dad was giving me instructions:p) and found out that the two thingies inside(made from graphite/copper-dont know the corect english term...they transmit the pover from the rotor inside the alternator..Sorry)were worn out...We replaced them(he got them for 3GBP...Had to thin them down a bit to fit, then soldered back in) and the batery light does not burn anymore:). A quick fix...
Another thing...be prepared to curse alot if u are taking the alternator down with the car on the ground...FIDLY job...
Hope this is of any use to you...

Greatings from Maribor...
Marko
