I had sprayed my gera surround bit red and as I had never sprayed before, I underestimated the mess that dust would make... so, yesterday bought some dust sheets from B&Q and swept my garage out and set about spraying it again.I set up a sort of den in my garge surrounded by this plastic sheeting, you know at the end of ET, when hes about dead? My garge looked like that!

I chose not to do it in red as I didnt like it anyway, it was too in your face for my liking so I wanted it black again.

I used 1500grit wet paper and got the finish as smooth as glass, dried it, primed it with about 5 light coats, 1500grit'ed it again, then sprayed it in Plasti-Kote gloss black. It looks fan-fappin-tastic! It looks great in gloss black, Im going to have a go at the dial surround and the centre console when I get chance.

I'll get some pics up on Snday when my mate comes round with his camera.


Just remember to give yourself an air break if your inside the plastic coccon for longer than 5 minutes, makes you see shapes and stars and you go dizzy!

Just remeber, sniffing solvents intentially is not big and it sure aint clever... it makes you as sick as a dog! [xx(]

lol im sorry im not out to offend u but i do find it amussing how some people take every bit of plastic off that comes off without too much hassle and sprays it a different colour.

i watched the same moped come into college a couple of days every week 4 about a month and every time i saw it, it was a little more silver. until one day and it was just a silvery putputing mass. lol then it rained and it all went grey and now its almost all rubbed off

yeah well i dunno about u m8, but i'm sure sando doesn't rub his interior, nor for that matter let the rain get onto his dashboard...

Bet it looks cool m8, ive just sparyed my interior handles gloss black using Folia tec spray, had never thought of plasti-cote :I gonna do the dash after the meet.

I dont plan on getting rain into my dash... I think it might mess it up somewhat!

I do think that a bright red dash looks cool (see Petes pics) but I couldnt be doing with driving to work every day with it! I quite like the gloss black, it sort of reminds me of fibreglassed dashs that you see in the US scene.

Plasti-Kote is fairly cheap, £6 a can from B&Q or Halfrauds.

Another random one- In yure Sidelight button cutout- yu have what looks to be an LED...where's the Sidelight control, also whats the thing in the blank plate by the window controls

Yeah, mine wasnt registered until late June 98 so will that make it one of the last ones? Are they Sei stalks then?

The lights are on the stalks, the blank plate has the alarm LED.

Next to the window buttons are the headlight adjusters, to move them from up (to blind oncoming drivers! lol!) or dipped.

The paint isnt finished off with anything, just painted. I sanded the primer down with 1500 wet and dry before appling paint so that made it a bit shinier.

Switch was fairly easy, just drilled a pilot hole, then drilled the hole with bigger and bigger drill bits, then just neatened it up with a stanley knife. The connections underneath it had to be 'modified' to allow it to sit flush as the transmission tunnel is about 2cm below it.
