HELP ME!

Was just driving my little Cento Sporting for no more than five minutes and the engine coolant boiled over very badly! Steam everywhere, and a v.high pitched noise! I was only going a short distance and didn't go over 15mph...!!!

Never had a single problem with it since I bought it in June...

Can anyone help?!

Kat:

To be honest, I normally hear a fan intermitantly coming on and off.. and I've just driven it 300 yeards back home at 5mph and I don't think I heard it come on.

The steam was coming from the engine coolant cap, even though it was (and still is) tightly screwed on. It's lost two thirds of a litre through the cap!

If it was a serious problem (i.e. gasket) would I have been able to drive it home 300 yards after leaving it to cool for an hour?

Kat!!!

Hey Mog,

Thanks for the advice. Am going to get it looked at! I think the poor little thing could do with a service anyway...!!

Kat.

think you will be best emptying the system and flushing it out, get rid of all the gunk and rust, might be a blocked or semi blocked pipe.

also look at the radiator. if loads of the fins are bent flat it wont be as efficient

Head gasket  is my opinion...

I was loosing about a full tank of water each time I did a short distance and had alot of water coming from the exhuasts and also steam from the cap!

So I did a full engine rebuild and changed all the gaskets got the head skimmed to max new pistons, all new valves etc etc... but the head gasket was toasted...

Good luck finding your problem anyway!

Adam
