Not really a problem as such but more of an annoyance.

The reception to my HU is currently very poor. The aeriel is currently sat pretty much level with the sunroof.

Once the aeriel is raised however, the reception is improved.

However in any type of road conditions, be it motorway or in town, a slight breeze or a slight burst of speed, and the aeriel is back to the horizontal position, thus returning to the poor reception.

The actual mechanism in which you raise and lower the aeriel seems very loose and was wondering what a solution was.

Is there a nut under the plastic protection bit i which i need to tighten? Or any adaptions i could do?

i would guess the actual ridges(i assume)are worn allowing the aerial to fall.
could try tightening the nut which will be inside the car or probably fit another aerial.
if you do remember to attach a cable ot the aerial cable as you withdraw it so you can pull the new aerial cable through

I've been thinking about this myself. I would like no visable ariel, not a crappy shark fin, or the standard.

The pillars to the side of the drive are very easy to remove, and an ariel would fit in there easy i think. Perhaps moving it to a new position, like in the pillar will alleviate your probs, and give you a nice look?

Will be a few weeks before i get round to this job but it does seem feasable to me.

Otherwise, you can buy a new ariel from shop4parts. Drop them a mail, and see if its the complete assembly??

Another alternative, is to raise it to max height, or where you like, and get some super glue, and run a small amount down the ariel monut. Will dry in a min or so and keep it standing tall :)

could always try just running an aerial lead extension cable along the roof lining?....
or go DAB ;)

DAB  :yuck: horrible horrible horrile ;)

In the roof lining would probably cover most of the reception, but i think in th epillar will be ok. If I'm bored tommorrow, i'll give it a go, just need to cap the top properly o prevent leaks :)

The other annoying thing I found when the ariel is at it lowest, it can tap the roof...ggrrr...I have to have it like that when i have my roof bars on, can't imagine it all the time :)
